Group Sessions and Workshops

Groups are a great way of meeting like minded individuals, share learning, reduce isolation, and have some fun with our practice!

Group sessions are based on the principles and practice of teaching in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). These sessions are for people who want to come and learn the tools and techniques, meet other people also wanting to improve their lives and wellbeing, and who don't want to share lots of detailed personal or private information about themselves.

Sessions are often creative and playful and we weave in lots of practice and examples to bring the skills to life. The sessions are clearly structured and we work methodically through the core DBT skills together, meaning there are never any surprises.

The joy of groups is that often people might ask questions you hadn't considered, or a discussion will happen where new ideas and thoughts are generated. Hearing and being with someone else who shares similar experiences can also be extremely validating and helpful for us as individuals.

Skills for Mental Health Wellness

Next date to be confirmed

Skills for Mental Health is a 13 week long, DBT-informed group which runs for 2 hours a week and covers all the core skills taught in DBT. These skills set us up with the foundations for good mental health throughout our lives and are broken into 4 Modules. This group is for anyone wanting to improve their wellbeing, learn more techniques to help them regulate their emotions, want to improve their relationships (with others and with themselves) and know how to  manage their wellbeing.

The four modules are briefly outlined below. If you are interested then use the contact form to get in touch. Spaces are limited for the next group. The total cost to attend is £780 which includes all handouts, refreshments, and your introductory call.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a core component of DBT and provides a foundation for all other skills taught. It involves the practice of being fully present in the moment, with a non-judgmental and accepting attitude. Ultimately, it enhances our self awareness, helps us learn to begin regulating our emotions, and helps us navigate life's challenges.

Distress Tolerance

Distress tolerance skills enable us to tolerate painful or problematic thoughts and emotions without making them worse. So, for example, they could be used if feeling frustrated with a child / partner to prevent us from snapping at them. Or could be used to accept painful situations that are out of our control which helps reduce our suffering overall.

Emotional Regulation

Learn here how to name and change your emotional responses in a way that is helpful rather than harmful. We also cover how to reduce our vulnerability to problematic emotions in the first place and how to build confidence, reduce symptoms of depression, and increase pleasant events in our life.

Interpersonal Effectiveness

Other people and our interactions with them can undoubtedly impact on our mental health. We cover in the last weeks of the session how to ask for what we need and so no confidently, put boundaries in place, and also take care of our relationships - both with other people AND most importantly our relationship with ourselves.
